Preparing LEET
Himachal Pradesh Lateral Entry Entrance Test
The Himachal Pradesh Lateral Entry Entrance Test (HP LEET) is conducted for diploma holders seeking direct admission into the second year (third semester) of B.Tech and B.E. programs offered by engineering institutions across Himachal Pradesh. The examination provides a structured pathway for students who have completed a diploma in engineering and technology to continue their education without repeating the first year of engineering studies. HP LEET is highly beneficial for diploma graduates who wish to enhance their technical qualifications, improve employment prospects, and gain access to advanced engineering education. Through the lateral entry mechanism, candidates can complete a B.Tech degree in three years instead of four years, making it one of the most cost-effective and time-efficient pathways to an engineering degree. The examination assesses candidates on mathematics, engineering fundamentals, technical concepts, and branch-specific knowledge acquired during diploma studies. Candidates qualifying through HP LEET become eligible for admission into various disciplines including Computer Science Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Information Technology. Admission is generally conducted through centralized counseling, document verification, seat allotment, and reporting procedures. Engineering graduates admitted through HP LEET can pursue careers in software development, public sector organizations, manufacturing industries, infrastructure projects, research, and higher education programs such as M.Tech and MBA.
Candidates must possess a Diploma in Engineering and Technology from a recognized institution approved by AICTE or the State Board of Technical Education. Candidates should satisfy minimum qualifying marks and eligibility requirements prescribed by the admission authority.
